GRANDMA'S BABKA | |
4 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 c. warm water (105 to 110 degrees), a little sugar in water 2 1/2 pkg. active dry yeast 1/2 tsp. salt 4 eggs 1/2 c. butter 4 tbsp. sugar Little white raisin (1/2 c. optional), soak in a little water to make soft Sift flour. Warm water with a little sugar; mix together. Mix eggs, butter (room temperature) and sugar; mix thoroughly. Knead dough on board with flour. Place in a warm bowl and let raise (keep out of draft), takes about 45 minutes to raise, then punch down. Let double in pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes in a greased Bundt pan. Can brush top with a mixture of egg yolk and water. |
