RICE KRISPIES/OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. baking soda
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. nuts (optional)
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 c. flour
2 c. Rice Krispies
2 eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla

Cream shortening, both sugars, eggs and vanilla. Blend all dry ingredients. Fold in Rice Krispies and oatmeal. Drop onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 350, 8 minutes -- chewy; 10 minutes -- crispy.
