5 c. dark brown sugar 1 can condensed milk 1 c. water 4 tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/4 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. vanilla 2 to 2 1/2 c. pecan pieces Combine sugar, cream of tartar and salt in a pot; add condensed milk and water a little at a time until creamy. Cook on a medium fire until it boils. Lower fire and cook about 30 minutes, stirring constantly. When mixture reaches the soft ball stage, remove from fire and add the butter, vanilla and pecans. Pour in circles on waxed paper to cool. |
