CHOCOLATE CHIP APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1/2 c. oil
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs beaten
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. applesauce
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chocolate pieces

Mix oil and 1 1/2 cup sugar; beat in eggs. Stir in flour, cinnamon, salt, applesauce, baking soda, and cocoa. Pour mixture into a greased and floured 13x9x2 pan. Sprinkle with 2 tbsp. sugar, nuts and chocolate pieces. This can be lightly stirred in or left on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Cover with foil if top becomes too brown. Serve with whipped topping if you like.
