ORANGE LIQUEUR 
1/2 lb. orange peels
1 qt. pure alcohol or 100 proof Vodka
1/2 lb. sugar
Some cloves & cinnamon sticks

FOR THE SYRUP:

1 lb. sugar
1 qt. water

Crush orange peels with sugar in a mortar until a pulp is formed. Place in a large jar with a wide opening. Add alcohol and cover top with a thick cloth. Shake jar and let stand for 5 to 6 days.

To make syrup, boil sugar, cloves and cinnamon sticks with water for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool and add to contents of jar. Cover and let stand for 5 to 6 more days, occasionally shaking the jar. Strain through a piece of cheese cloth. Filter by placing a piece of cotton in a funnel and letting liquor pass through a little at a time. Keep in bottles and serve in liqueur glasses.
