POTATO CASSEROLE 
6 lg. potatoes
1/2 lb. cooked bacon, if desired
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3/8 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
2 tbsp. chopped parsley
3/8 tsp. paprika
1 c. scallions, sliced
2 c. (10 oz.) grated Gruyere cheese
6 tbsp. butter
1/3 c. milk
1/2 c. half & half

Slice potatoes 1/8 inch thick. Place in casserole dish. Line bottom with half the potatoes. Sprinkle with half the spices, butter, and scallions. Add remaining potatoes, butter and repeat with remaining spices and scallions. Cover with milk and half & half. Cover and bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Uncover, sprinkle with cheese, reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for additional 30 minutes. Serves 6.
