CHOP SUEY | |
3 tbsp. fat or salad oil 1 lb. diced veal or pork 2 c. water 2 tbsp. soy sauce 3 bouillon cubes (beef or chicken) 2 c. sliced celery 2 c. sliced onion 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms 1 c. water 1 c. flour Melt fat in frying pan. When hot, add meat and brown on both sides. Add water, soy sauce and bouillon cubes. Stir until cubes are dissolved. Add vegetables. cover, heat to boiling and then simmer for approximately 25 minutes or until meat is tender and vegetables cooked. Blend flour and water and add to mixture. Bring to boil, then simmer for 5 more minutes. Serve over cooked rice and bean sprouts. Sprinkle with chow mein noodles over top. Serves 4-5. |
