GRANDMA'S GINGERBREAD | |
1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. unsulphured molasses 2 eggs 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. ginger 1 c. hot water Cream shortening. Gradually add sugar and cream mixture until light and fluffy. Blend in molasses. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with hot water. Turn into a well-greased 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. |
