1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. pineapple with juice
2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix shortening and egg and sugar together. Mix dry ingredients and add to shortening mixture. Drop by spoonful onto greased baking sheet (cookie sheet). Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Watch the baking time closely as this is a very old recipe.
