2 c. all purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. butter
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
3 squares (3 oz.) unsweetened chocolate, melted & cooled
1 1/4 c. cold water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and lightly flour 2 (9" x 1 1/2") round baking pans. Combine the first 3 ingredients. In a mixer bowl beat butter on medium speed of electric mixer about 30 seconds. Add sugar and vanilla and beat until well combined. Add eggs, one at a time, beating 1 minute after each. Beat in cooled chocolate. Add dry ingredients and cold water alternately to beaten mixture, beating after each addition. Turn into pans. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until done. Cool 10 minutes on wire racks. Remove from pans. Cool. Makes 12 servings.
