APPLE-ONION CASSEROLE 
3 lg. mild onions, sliced
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
Salt and pepper
6 tart apples, peeled and sliced
Buttered bread crumbs

Lightly grease casserole. Arrange a layer of onions in the bottom of the casserole. Sprinkle with half the brown sugar. Season with salt and pepper and dot with half the butter. Add the apples in a layer. Top with remaining sugar. Season and dot with remaining butter. Top with bread crumbs and bake at 300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Serves 6.
