APPLE BROWNIES 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour
3 med. tart apples, pared and diced
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Scant tsp. vanilla

Cream butter. Add salt, sugar, and egg. Continue beating until light and creamy. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in apples, nuts, and vanilla. Turn into greased 9 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Cool in pan. Cut into squares.
