GRANDMOTHER'S MACARONI AND
CHEESE
 
2 c. macaroni
1 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. milk
2 c. milk
1 sm. pkg. Velveeta
1 tsp. butter
Cheddar cheese slices

Cook 2 cups macaroni, rinse with cold water; drain. Mix 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch with 1/2 cup milk and set mixture aside. Heat 2 cups milk with Velveeta stirring until cheese melts. (Stir constantly to avoid burning on the bottom of the pan.) Add 1 teaspoon butter and cornstarch mixture. Stir until thickened then cool. Add macaroni and pour into 8 x 8 inch casserole. Top with Cheddar cheese slices. Bake at 350 degrees until cheese melts.
