OLD - FASHIONED CRUMB CAKE 
2 c. brown sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour milk
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, flour, shortening, baking powder and baking soda together. Reserve 1 cup of crumbs for top. Add and mix remaining ingredients. Pour batter into greased cake pan. Sprinkle crumbs over top and bake at 350°F for 35 to 40 minutes, or until cake tests done.

This can be substituted for shortcake.

Delicious with any kind of fruit. Eat with milk.
