FIVE HOUR BAKED STEW | |
2 lbs. veal (beef may be substituted) cut in bite size pieces 2 c. onions, diced 2 c. potatoes, quartered 2 c. fresh carrots, cut up 2 c. celery, diced 1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms, drained 2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 5 tbsp. tapioca (minute, quick cooking) 1 tsp. sugar 2 c. V-8 juice 1 c. water (juice from mushrooms can be used) Place all ingredients, in order given, in a roaster with a tight fitting lid. Bake at 250 degrees for 5 hours. No browning or stirring. When done gravy will be thick and brown. Serves 8. Can be frozen. Good for people with high cholesterol, when using veal. |
