STUFFED CABBAGE CASSEROLE | |
1 lb. ground beef 1 lb. ground pork sausage 1/2 clove chopped garlic 1 stalk chopped celery 1 sm. chopped onion 1 egg, slightly beaten 1-2 slices bread 1/4 c. milk 1 tbsp. butter Salt & pepper to taste 1 sm. head of cabbage 1 can tomatoes 2 tbsp. parsley 9"x11" Pyrex dish Prepare meat in small saucepan. Cook butter, chopped garlic, celery, onions until clear. Then mix in bowl ground pork sausage, beef, salt and pepper. Mix in crumbled bread, slightly beaten egg and milk until bread mixture is wet. Add bread mixture and veggies mix in meat; combine all together well. Clean cabbage and peel cabbage leaves off. Pat leaves dry. Grease 9"x11" Pyrex dish; set aside. Take one leaf at a time, lay on table, place meat mixture inside of cabbage, roll leave over mixture, place a toothpick to hold in place. Repeat until all meat mixture is gone. TOPPING: Pour a can of whole tomatoes on top of cabbage. Sprinkle with parsley on casserole. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. |
