CABBAGE ROLLS
1 lb. ground beef (or ground turkey)
1 lb. sausage
2 eggs
5 tbsp. raw rice
Salt, pepper to taste
Garlic to taste

Mix together, then roll into cabbage.

1 large head cabbage. Core, steam until soft. Let cool. Separate into loaves.

SAUCE FOR CABBAGE ROLLS:

29 oz. can tomato sauce
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. brown sugar
4 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2-1 tsp. ground ginger
1-2 lg. onions

Bring sauce to a boil. Coat bottom of baking dish with sauce, layer cabbage rolls in dish, then cover with sauce. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.

This dish freezes well. I bake it, then put the rolls in individual containers and freeze.

I have never made cabbage rolls, and didn't know what to expect taste wise. This recipe was absolutely amazing. I forgot to add the onions, but I don't think that would have made a world of difference. This will become a staple in our house for suppers. Thank you so much for sharing!
