JAM CAKE 
1 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. black berry jam
1 c. walnuts, chopped

Cream Crisco and sugar; add eggs. Beat until light. Mix flour, salt, nutmeg, cloves and allspice. Mix soda well with buttermilk. Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately to cream mixture. Fold in jam and nuts. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
