JAM CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
4 eggs
1 c. jam
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. buttermilk
1 scant tsp. baking soda

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time and beat thoroughly. Add jam. Combine flour, soda and spices. Add mixed dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk to the butter and sugar mixture. Bake three layers in greased pans at 350 degrees. Use pineapple filling between layers and chocolate icing.

FILLING:

1 sm. can crushed pineapple
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. flour
Lump butter the size of an egg
2 tbsp. water

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and cook until mixture thickens. Spread while warm.

CHOCOLATE ICING:

2 c. sugar
1 sq. unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
