CHRISTMAS RIBBON COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. chopped green candied cherries
1 sq. melted unsweetened chocolate, cooled
1/4 c. chopped pecans
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
Green food coloring

Cream butter and add sugar gradually and heat until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt, gradually add to creamed mixture. Divide dough 3 ways; to first part add cherries and green food color, to second part add chocolate and nuts, leave 3rd part plain.

Chill all for easy handling. Line 1 1/2 quart loaf pan with aluminum foil. Pack cherry dough in layer on bottom, cover with chocolate dough. Top with layer of plain dough. Chill overnight. Lift dough from pan with foil. Cut in half lengthwise, then cut in 1/8 inch slices. Bake on cookie sheet 10 minutes at 375 degrees. 6 to 7 dozen.
