FLAKY YEAST BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
5 c. plain flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 package yeast
2 c. buttermilk

Sift flour, baking powder, salt, soda and sugar together. Mix in shortening. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water. Add buttermilk and yeast to first mixture. Put in container and cover. Keep in refrigerator. Will keep for several weeks. Will make about 6 dozen. Also makes good donuts.

Bake as you would biscuits or in a preheated 400°F oven for 10-15 minutes (depends upon size of biscuits; for very large biscuits, reduce oven temperature and bake for the longer time, until golden).
