EASY OLD-FASHIONED BREAD &
BUTTER PICKLES
 
8 c. thinly sliced cucumbers
2 c. thinly sliced onions
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. mustard seeds
1 tsp. turmeric
2 tsp. celery seeds

Place all ingredients in a large (stainless) pot. Cook 20 minutes from time you put on burner, set on high. Pack in hot sterilized jars and seal.

NOTE: This is also good using young straight-necked yellow squash instead of cucumbers.
