ENGLISH SCONES 
2 c. flour sifted with 1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. sugar, stir into flour
1/2 stick of butter
2 eggs
1 c. raisins

Cut butter into flour mixture with fork or pastry blender. Rub between hands until well mixed. Stir eggs in with fork and add raisins. Stir until batter clings together.

Put on floured board and knead four or five times. Roll out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter into 12 biscuits. Place on cookie sheet and bake in a preheated oven, 425 degrees, for 10 to 15 minutes until amber colored. Serve butter on the bottom or with jam or jelly.
