ROLLED OUT BUTTER COOKIES
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. orange juice
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift baking powder and flour together. Set aside. In large bowl, cream butter and butter until fluffy. Add sugar and egg; beat until well combined. On low speed, stir in dry ingredients, orange juice, and vanilla until smooth. Chill several hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Roll out dough on a floured board to 1/4 or 1/8 inch thickness, depending on thickness you desire. Cut with cookie cutters, using those appropriate for the seasons). Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees near center of oven for 6 to 9 minutes (edges should be brown). Cool on rack. Frost, decorate after cooling (sprinkle with decorations before you bake them). Enjoy. I always have good luck with this recipe.
