CORN BREAD PIE 
Combine in skillet:

1 lb. ground beef
1 lg. onion, chopped

Brown well. Add:

1 can (10 1/2 oz.) tomato soup
1 1/2 c. water
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. black pepper
1 tbsp. chili powder
1 can (12 oz.) whole kernel corn
1/2 c. chopped green pepper

Mix well and let simmer 15 minutes. Turn into a greased casserole. Top with corn bread. Bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) for 20 minutes.

o make corn bread topping: Sift together:

3/4 c. corn meal
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

dd:

1 egg, well beaten
1/2 c. milk
1 tbsp. bacon drippings

Turn onto beef mixture. Do not worry if this topping sinks during baking. It will rise again, and cook crispy.
