VINEGAR ROLL | |
Pie Crust 2 1/4 c. plain flour 1 tbsp. sugar 1 egg 1 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt 1/2 c. water Mix flour, salt, sugar and shortening together until mealy. Stir water and egg together and mix well with other ingredients. Divide pie dough into four portions. Take portion and roll each out thin. Brush crust with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon over each crust. Roll each crust into a roll. Place in large baking dish. (You may use as many crust as you want.) Put remaining crust in freezer (wrap separately). Sprinkle 2 tablespoons flour mixed with 1/2 cup sugar over crusts. Pie Filling 1 c. vinegar (apple cider vinegar) 5 c. water 2 c. sugar or sweeten to taste 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring Combine ingredients, pour into saucepan and bring to boil. Pour into pie pan. Bake in oven at 450 degrees until mixture thickens and turns golden brown. NOTE: Use only enough of vinegar mixture over crust to reach the top of crusts. (Remainder may be kept in refrigerator). |
