Leftover cake Jelly 1/2 c. sherry 1 tbsp. brandy 6 eggs, beaten 1 c. sugar 3 tbsp. cornstarch 3 c. milk 1/4 tsp. salt 2 tsp. vanilla Slice leftover cake into narrow layers. Spread with jelly and put slices back together (sandwich style). Arrange bottom of bowl or baking dish. Sprinkle with sherry and brandy. Set aside. Scald milk. Mix sugar and cornstarch. Add eggs. Add milk to mixture. Slowly cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick. Add vanilla, stir. Cool slightly and spread over cake. Let cool. Cover with whipped cream or topping. Serve. |
