KIKI'S MEAT PIES
1 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb. Italian sausage
2 pkg brown gravy mix
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 cup minced onion
1/2 cup minced garlic
1 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1 tbsp. basil
2 cups frozen vegetables
2 cups water
1/2 sour cream
1 cup fine shredded cheese
3 tubes large refrigerator biscuits
flour

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Brown beef and sausage in a large skillet. Remove meat from skillet into a large bowl and drain but 2 tablespoons of fat. Sauté onions, garlic, and mushrooms in remaining fat. Remove to bowl with meat.

Bring water to simmer in skillet and add gravy mix, seasonings and Worcestershire sauce mixing well. Return meat to skillet and add vegetables, heating until just boiling. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring regularly until it starts to thicken.

Stir in sour cream and slowly add cheese until sauce is VERY thick. Remove from heat and set aside.

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Open a tube of biscuits and on a floured surface, roll biscuits out 1 at a time into approximately 5-6-inch rounds. Place about 1/2 cup of meat mixture on one half of a round. Fold remaining dough over into a half-circle, then fold over and crimp open edge. Place on a baking sheet fold down. Place 6 on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes. Remove when golden brown and cool on racks completely before storing.

These pies will freeze, travel and reheat well in a microwave or oven.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
