1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 c. thick applesauce
1 c. candied fruit
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Cream shortening, sugar, and egg. Add the spices then the applesauce, candied fruit, and nuts. Fold in flour. Line baking pan with wax papas, pour batter in pan. Bake at 350 degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Test center of loaf with toothpick until done.
