RED VELVET CAKE 
2 oz. red food coloring
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk

Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs one at at time, make a paste of cocoa and food color and add to cream mix. Sift flour and salt together. Alternate buttermilk and flour to cream mixture. Mix soda and vinegar and add to batter.

Bake in 2- 9 inch or 3- 8 inch 30 minutes at 350°F.
