FIG-STRAWBERRY CONSERVE | |
3 c. mashed freshly picked figs 3 c. sugar 1 (6 oz.) or 2 (3 oz.) pkg. strawberry Jello Thoroughly mix mashed figs, Jello and sugar in large pan. Bring to boil over medium heat and boil 3 minutes, stir constantly. Pour immediately into freshly sterilized (boiled) jelly glasses. Cover at once with paraffin. Makes 6 medium glasses. Raspberry or cherry Jello may be substituted for strawberry. This makes a delicious topping for vanilla ice cream. Keep preserves in cold place, preferably refrigerator. If it gets too warm it may collect mold on top. If it does, just remove mold with little piece of wet paper towel; it doesn't hurt the preserves. |
