SAUSAGE CAKE | |
1 c. walnuts (chopped) 2 c. sugar 1 lb. sausage 1 lb. raisins 1 lb. currants 1 c. boiling water 3 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 tbsp. cocoa Pour boiling water over sausage, sugar first and mix well. Let set while you mix other. Sift flour, soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, cocoa together. Add little at a time to sausage. Then add raisins, currants, walnuts to this mixture. Stir well. Will be very stiff. Line tube pan with wax paper on bottom and flour pan. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees then bake 1 hour 40 minutes at 325 degrees. Remove on wire rack to cool. Then wrap cake in cloth and put whiskey on cloth. Let set at least 2 weeks. Put in container with lid on. Check every day. |
