DEVIL DOG COOKIES 
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
1 cup cocoa
4-1/4 cups flour
2 eggs
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 cups milk
2 tsp vanilla

Mix all ingredients until blended. Drop by spoonsful on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake in 350 oven for 10 - 15 minutes.

Makes about 30.

Filling for Devil Dogs:

1 cup Crisco
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 cups milk
8 tbsp flour
2 tsp vanilla

Cream together Crisco, butter and sugar. Cook milk and flour to make a white sauce; cool. Add white sauce to creamed mixture. Beat about 4 minutes. Add vanilla and beat 1 minute. Fills about 30 Devil Dogs.
