DEVIL DOGS 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. milk
2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg. In a separate bowl sift together dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to the creamed mixture. Add vanilla and mix well.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 7- 8 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and make into sandwiches by using the cream filling recipe that follows.

CREAM FILLING:

4 tbsp. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 c. shortening (Crisco)
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix flour and milk and cook into a very thick paste. Set aside to cool. Cream shortening, sugar, salt and vanilla. Add to the paste mixture and beat well. Use to fill devil dogs.
