BANANA PUDDING 
1 1/2 c. sugar
4 tbsp. flour or 3 tbsp. cornstarch
2 c. milk
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. butter
4 bananas
6 oz. vanilla wafers

Mix sugar, flour or cornstarch until smooth. Add 1 cup of the milk. Mix well. Beat egg yolks, add other cup of milk and butter. Add to first mixture. Cook in top of double boiler until thickened. Add vanilla.

Place 1 layer of vanilla wafers and bananas in bowl. Add rest of pudding mix. Beat egg whites until fluffy. Add 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar and 4 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Spread on pudding and bake at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes.
