SPICY CORNBREAD 
3/4 c. unbleached, all-purpose flour
1 c. cornmeal
3 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/8 tsp. curry powder
1/4 c. chopped red bell pepper
1 c. plain yogurt
1 egg
3 tbsp. vegetable oil
3 tbsp. chopped green onion

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, chili powder and curry powder. Stir in bell pepper.

In a separate bowl, combine the yogurt, egg, oil and onion. Stir in the yogurt mixture into the flour mixture. Pour into a greased 8 inch square pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve fresh from the oven with butter. Makes 9 servings.
