BILL'S CORNBREAD 
2 c. plain cornmeal
2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. bacon drippings or vegetable oil
1 chopped dill pickle
2 chopped med. onions
1/4 chopped green pepper

Preheat oven and iron skillet to 450 degrees.

Sift together cornmeal, salt, soda, add buttermilk and beaten eggs. Stir in onion, pickle, pepper and oil. You can also add grated cheddar, cracklings, jalapeno peppers or anything else in the refrigerator. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
