HOT ROLLS 
1 cake Red Star yeast
2 c. lukewarm water
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. shortening

Dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar, salt and egg. Add 3 cups of flour and make batter. Add melted cooled shortening. Then mix in flour to make stiff batter, then knead in flour for easy handling. Grease large bowl, turn in bowl to put shortening around all dough. Cover; let rise to double in size. Work down good. Let rise to double again. Work down good. Make out in whatever you want. I made loaves of bread, hot rolls and cinnamon rolls from this same dough.
