DOVES IN SOUR CREAM 
6 to 12 doves
Salt and pepper
Flour
Oil or butter
3 to 4 slices bacon
Beef or poultry stock or water
1 c. sour cream

Wash and dry birds thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper. Roll in flour and brown lightly in oil or butter, an electric skillet is ideal. Place 3 or 4 slices of bacon in a casserole; put the partly-cooked birds on top. Over this, pour just enough beef or poultry stock or water if the stock is not available, to avoid sticking. Cover and place in 350 degree oven for an hour or more. Ten minutes before serving, pour sour cream over the birds.
