This sounds like a family recipe from my husband's family.

We used to have this every Sunday when I was a child. We had no clue what macaroni and cheese were. We had Cracker Pie!

I grew up in South Carolina. Cheese pie was a dish we had at most of the family gatherings. Now that I'm married and live far from the South, I still keep up the family tradition. Cheese pie is delicious and easy to make.

I remember eating this cracker pie at the country club in Newberry, SC, a long time ago. My mother, a native of Newberry, told me it was a very popular dish when she grew up there in the 1920s. They used Ritz crackers in it at the club and I use them when I make it at home.
