1/2 c. soft butter
6 tbsp. sugar
6 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. + 2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (6 oz.) pkg. (1 c.) chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Beat together first 4 ingredients until creamy. Beat in egg. Combine with flour, soda and salt. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Spread in greased 9" square pan or 9"x13" pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes (9"x9") or 12 to 15 minutes (9"x13").
