BROWN BEEF STEW 
1 lb. boneless stew meat
Salt and pepper
Flour
Sm. amount shortening
1 1/2 c. water
3 potatoes, cubed
2 onions, cut in pieces
3 carrots, sliced thick

Salt and pepper meat; roll in flour and brown in shortening. Add water and simmer 2 to 3 hours. Add vegetables and cook over low heat until tender. Stir occasionally.
