PECAN FRENCH TOAST | |
4 eggs 1/3 c. milk 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg 1 (8 oz.) loaf French bread, cut in 1 inch slices 2/3 c. orange juice 1/4 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/3 c. butter, melted 1/2 c. pecans, chopped Combine eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, nutmeg and vanilla. Mix with a wire whisk. Place bread in a single layer in a tight fitting casserole. Pour milk mixture over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight, turning once. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Arrange soaked bread slices in single layer in an oblong casserole. Sprinkle with pecans. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until brown. Serve with maple syrup and butter. Serves 4. |
