CALICO BEANS AND CORNBREAD 
1 to 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 c. chopped onion
1/4 lb. chopped bacon
1/2 c. green pepper
1 tbsp. vinegar
1/2 c. ketchup
1 tbsp. prepared mustard
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 or 3 of the following - sm. lima beans, sm. kidney beans, green beans, baked beans (1 can each, drained or frozen)

Saute first 4 ingredients until well browned; drain. Mix in remaining ingredients in a large casserole dish. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes while preparing cornbread. 3/4 c. cornmeal 2 to 4 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. baking powder (heaping) Dash of salt 1 egg 2/3 c. milk 1/3 c. melted butter, butter, or oil

Mix dry ingredients together. Beat remaining ingredients together, then add all at once and stir just until moist. Spread on top of beef and bean mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 25 minutes.
