APPLE CRISP 
3 lb. apples (Golden Delicious and Granny Smith, about 3 each)
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon

Peel, core and slice apples. Mix cornstarch, brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon together. Coat apples with mixture.

Topping:

1 c. all-purpose flour (plain)
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
pinch of salt
6 tbsp. butter, cut in pieces and softened
1 c. nuts, chopped

Place coated apple slices in 1 1/2-quart baking dish. Mix flour, brown sugar, butter, salt and 1 cup nuts. Mix well. Sprinkle over top of apples, then press down with hand.

Bake at 400°F for 45 minutes or 350°F until done. Let cool and top with ice cream or eat plain.
