CHOCO-WALNUT BARS | |
CRUMB BASE: 3/4 c. butter, cut up 2 c. Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked) 1 1/4 c. all purpose flour 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda For crumb base, add butter to combined oats, flour, sugar, salt and soda. Beat on low speed of electric mixer until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press mixture firmly onto bottom of well greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. TOPPING: 1 c. chopped walnuts 1 (6 oz.) pkg. (1 c.) semi sweet chocolate pieces 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk For topping, sprinkle walnuts and chocolate pieces evenly over crust. Pour condensed milk over nuts and chocolate pieces. Bake in preheated moderate oven (350 degrees) 25 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Cool. Chill to set chocolate, cut into bars. Makes 13 x 9 inch pan of bars. |
