CHOCOLATE OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. quick, uncooked oatmeal
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon

Grease bottom of two 9 inch pans or a 13 x 9 inch pan. Pour boiling water over oats in mixing bowl. Stir, cover and let stand for 15 minutes.

In another bowl, beat oil and sugars and blend in vanilla, eggs and melted chocolate. Add oats mixture and mix well. Sift together flour, soda, salt and cinnamon. Add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Pour into prepared pan(s). Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until cake tests done. When done, do not remove from pan. While still warm, spread frosting evenly over warm cake.

FROSTING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. melted butter
3 tsp. milk
1/2 c. chopped nuts
3/4 c. flaked coconut

Combine all ingredients and spread gently on warm cake. Broil cake about 6 inches from heat for 1-2 minutes until mixture is bubbly.
