APPLE PIE | |
1 pkg. Pillsbury Ready Crust 3 lbs. Granny Smith apples, cut on 3 mm blade of good processor 2 tsp. lemon juice 2/3 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/8 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. lemon rind 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tbsp. butter 1. Place crust into glass pie plate. 2. Heat oven to 425 degrees. 3. Pare, quarter, core, slice apples or 3 mm blade in processor. 4. Combine lemon juice, sugar, nutmeg, salt, lemon rind, and cinnamon. 5. Pile 1/2 apple pieces in pie plate and sprinkle with 1/2 sugar mixture. 6. Add rest of apples and sprinkle with rest of sugar. 7. Dot with butter. 8. Cover with top piece of pastry. 9. Smear pastry with evaporated milk to have a nicely browned crust. 10. Bake 30-40 minutes depending on how soft you want the apples. |
