SAVORY RICE 
1 c. white rice
1 1/2 c. water
2 chicken stock cubes
1/2 red pepper
2 sticks celery
4 shallots
4 oz. mushrooms
3 slices bacon
1 onion
1 oz. butter
2 tsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. turmeric
Salt & pepper

Rinse rice well. Combine in bowl with water, crumbled chicken stock cubes, chopped peppers, chopped onions, celery, shallots and sliced mushrooms. Saute chopped bacon and onions in butter until onion is transparent. Drain and add to bowl with soy sauce and turmeric. Season with salt and black pepper. Bake in moderate oven for 45 minutes.
