GERMAN STYLE RED CABBAGE 
1 (4 lb.) red cabbage, sliced
6 slices bacon, diced
2 apples, chopped
1 lg. onion, chopped
Water
1 1/4 c. vinegar
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 c. sugar
Salt and pepper

Cut, slice cabbage. Dice bacon and fry in large pan until crisp. Add onion - saute until tender. Add apples with skins, then add cabbage and a small amount of water with vinegar. Add spices. Cook until tender. Add salt and pepper. Depending upon size of cabbage adjust spices and vinegar. You can add more vinegar, if you wish or add more spices.
